June should be a good month on Irish waters, there will be numerous fly hatches throughout the month and lots of natural feeding for fish. There should still be enough rainfall during the month to ensure there is enough water in the rivers and Loughs and water temperature should have reached optimum temperatures for flylife.
Dry fly fishing should be at its best on the rivers this month although nymph fishing will still score well at time. Fishing on the Loughs will be still centred on the Mayfly for the first week or so with plenty of other fly life hatching when these die off for the season. Fishing for trout in the stocked stillwaters should see a switch to imitative tactics score well although lures will still work well for newly stocked fish.
