Tips on Fly Fishing for Carp
When fly fishing for carp you need to encourage the fish to feed on the surface. Do this by throwing in 'dog mixer biscuits' until the fish are feeding comfortably. Cast your fly imitation among the feeding fish. Aim to land your fly in front of moving fish, don’t move it, and wait until the line tightens before striking.
Tips on Fly Fishing for Bass
Local information about tides and good marks is essential. Look for areas likely to hold food, for example, seaweed beds or rocky ground. These places are often visible at low water. Bass will come close to the shore on a rising tide looking for prey. Look for signs of moving fish chasing baitfish and in particular areas where sea birds are active Attach your fly using the following knots which, tied carefully and moistened before pulling tight, have served us well. Always match tippet diameter to fly size.
